Another Update

  • Reading: Fire behaviour Manuals :-(
Boo Hoo

Hey all...

Well just taking some time out of the books to update everyone...
Training's going well really good fun but seriously hard going... it's nowhere near as easy as people seem to think it is but hey that's just life... We're having to learn a 3inch deep file each week on different fire behaviours and methods to extinguish... the hardest thing is to match the right technique with the correct symtoms... if you get them wrong you can kill yourself as well as the whole rest of your team... tis a major responsibility but then again because of this training the UK firefighters deaths in percentage is somewhere around 0.5-1% and not even that i don't think compared to the US where it stands closer to around 10-15% that is a massive amount if you think about it but seeing the training the US go through it's not really a surprise... (sorry that's me going off on one) it is truely amazing that so little water is used to put out enormous house fires i mean we only open the nozzle for a split second at a time whilst progressing into the fire and that has a massive effect... it's not the heat so much as the steam that can screw you up...
Anyway i'm digressing once more... as i said before training is going sweet (apart from my broken finger but hey)... I'll update you all as to how things are going again soon so catch ya all later...
TTFN
